After waiting for over 1year due to covid then being referred to Mr Carrothers at the Spire Hospital for a total hip replacement, I am now enjoying my life pain free. Mr Carrothers is a highly professional skilled surgeon with a natural calm manner which puts you at ease immediately and I would highly recommend him. His secretary Carol is most helpful nothing too much trouble Thank you so much to the whole team

After putting off a knee replacement for far too long, I eventually plucked up courage and made an appointment to see Mr Carrothers, on the recommendation of a previous patient. The care I received before, during and after my operation was excellent. I am making good progress and hope to be back gardening and enjoying life with my family before too long.

I would not normally elect to have surgery but the whole experience was made comfortable and bearable by Andrew Carrothers whose surgical abilities undoubtedly made for a pain free experience with a very fast, successful and full recovery. Following an unexpected problem I contacted Andrew Carrothers. He was very quick to respond and ordered an MRI and X rays that showed I needed an Arthroscopy which was scheduled without delay. I prepared for the operation fully expecting to leave hospital on crutches with some analgesics (Paracetamol) to control any pain and to take a few weeks to regain full flexibility and mobility after physiotherapy. The reality was that when I woke up from the anaesthetic I had no pain whatsoever albeit with some expected swelling and stiffness. Analgesia was not required after 6 hours as there was no pain whatsoever. Physiotherapy started before leaving the hospital with 90° flexibility and full weight bearing which was far better than I had expected. I continued with the exercises 5/6 times per day using ice after every session as recommended by Mr Carrothers which helped enormously to reduce the swelling which stopped after 7 days. Progress was very fast and I stopped using the crutches after a couple of days and was able to walk 2 miles or more within 3 weeks without any pain or difficulty. Flexibility and mobility continued to increase. The residual stiffness was gone and full mobility achieved after 4 weeks.

From the first appointment regarding my very painful knee, Mr Carrothers showed me great kindness and compassion and was totally empathetic. The service I received from Mr Carrothers and his PA was exemplary, particularly given the very difficult circumstances around Covid. I am now pain free for the first time in many months.

Very professional while listening to my description of my problem from thye xray I had prior to the first consultation and the examination he diagnosed my condition and scheduled a CT Scan just to get the full picture of when he would be dealing with. Day of surgery 12/07/2021 Arthroscopic keyhole surgery fo a torn meniscus in the left knee again professional while still putting me at ease for what I would be going through as did the rest of the surgical team. Post operation consultation just to check the area of the incisions and how I had been progressing, happy with his work and my outcome was still advised to contact his PA should I have any issues in the coming months as a booking would be made to see him for any corrective measures required.
